“Printmaking is a way of primal visual communication. When it comes to fine art prints I like to keep things as simple as possible. There is a certain beauty and archaic poetry in black and white linocuts. The image speaks in a very direct manner to the audience, and it is the artists responsibility to create work that is captivating but still holds enough room for interpretation within its very straight forward structure. I always get inspired by Yugoslav prints depicting either the terrors of war or the hard labouring working class. These simplistic depictions harbour great power and excel in storytelling. There is something about the heaviness of black printmaking ink that suits their rough demeanour and helps to convey a more striking experience. I would like to harvest these traits through my own work, creating images and compositions of images that captivate the audience with sheer expressive power.”
